Happy Labor Day weekend everyone!
Golf is a funny game. One day you’re striping it and the next you can’t seem to do anything well consistently. Believe it or not, your golf swing is a bit more consistent than you think. If you track your stats, patterns emerge and your results settle into a more narrow range than you might think.
Data tells a story about who you are as a golfer, not just about your skill level but also about what type of player you are - aggressive vs. conservative, intuitional vs. process-driven, persistently unphased vs. easily shaken, etc.
I want to help YOU SHOOT LOWER SCORES WITHOUT CHANGING YOUR SWING.

QUICK FRIDAY STAT BREAKDOWN
1-putts vs. 2-putts vs. 3-putts
The data always tells a story
Take a look at the chart below- where do you fall relative to your handicap?

Since most of us will never turn Pro, let’s ignore Tour Pros for a second. As you can see, the number of 2-putts isn’t all that different across handicaps, but there’s a stark difference on both ends of the handicap spectrum when it comes to 1-putts and 3-putts. Scratch golfers only gain 2.3 strokes over 20 Handicaps via 1-putts. But Scratch golfers gain a minimum of 2.7 strokes over 20 Handicaps when it comes to 3+ putts (i.e. 4-putts are in play here, so it could be higher).
TRANSLATION: If you’re a typical 20 HCP, you have more to gain by simply working on speed control than working on your short putt start lines. Get your first putt to tap-in range because 3-putts can kill a good round!
SIDE BENEFIT- when you dial in your speed, you’ll start to make more 1-putts, too! The speed alone makes it pretty almost impossible to hole a 25 footer when it zooms 8 feet past the hole!
