Happy Tuesday! The Masters kicks off in just 13 days. Who’s going to win? The Sportsline computer model has picked the last 2 winners, and it naturally has the red hot Scottie Scheffler with the best odds at 5-1. Rory sits at 10-1. No matter what happens, a healthy dose of pimento cheese, soothing piano music and the sultry tone of Jim Nantz’s voice await.

(Tiger sits at 160-1 odds for anyone wondering)

TIPS & DRILLS
Putt like Tiger with his go-to “Tee Drill”
TW knows just how important perfect contact is to holing putts
To Recap…

Use Tiger’s Tee Drill to stop mis-hitting putts entirely. It’s incredibly simple, yet if you practice it enough, you’ll burn the correct “feel” of a center-cut putting stroke into your brain. Here’s the drill:

-STEP 1: Place 2 tees in the ground just barely wider than your putter face. You should be able to make a full putting stroke without bumping either tee, which will promote hitting the ball in the center of the putter face.
-STEP 2: Practice hitting ~20-30 one-handed putts (using your rear hand, so a righty should use their right hand and vice versa). Feel the face rotate as you load going back, then focus on making solid contact and releasing the putter head coming through.
-STEP 3: Once you have a good feel for the appropriate stroke, practice your normal putting stroke using both hands.

Pro Tip: Since most righties are right-hand dominant (and vice versa for lefties), practice the same drill using only your non-dominant hand for an even more consistent stroke. If you like an extra challenge, you can also practice from a variety of distances.

The hottest course in America is in Nebraska?
Golf Digest’s Best New Public Course in 2022

Landmand Golf Club
Homer, NE

In 2014, Tad King and Rob Collins completed a makeover of the Sweetens Cove 9-hole course in rural Tennessee, and it was later named the 21st Best Course You Can Play by Golfweek. Aiming to prove they weren’t a one-hit wonder, they tackled a bigger challenge 10 miles outside Sioux City, Iowa. And wow, did they deliver. Landmand Golf Club sits on 580 acres of sprawling farmland, nearly 3x the size of an average golf course!

Named Golf Digest’s Best New Public Course in 2022, the course sold out of ALL 11,000 tee times for 2024 in 2 hours and 40 minutes. 🤯 Cancellations do pop up once in a while on their Instagram page (@landmandgc), but you’ll have to wait until January if you want to have your pick of the litter.

Rates: $150 per round

STATISTICS
Stat of the Day: Putting By Handicap - Total Putts vs. 3-Putts Per Round
presented by…

The Stat: The difference between a Tour Pro and a 25-handicap is just 4.4 putts per round, and nearly 2 of those strokes come in the form of 3-putts (1.89 to be exact).

The Takeaway: Tour Pro handicaps average +5.4, so the difference between them and a 25-handicap is 30+ strokes. Yet only 4.4 of those strokes are accounted for by putting, which is incredible. Once everybody is on the dance floor, we’re not all that different!

The real difference is that pros make far fewer drastic mistakes getting to the green.
