The Trick to the Perfect Lead-Hand Grip
@speedgolfrob may seem nuts, but he drops nuggets of gold!
To Recap…

If you’re not familiar with @speedgolfrob, well, let’s just say he’s a crazy follow on social media. His methods might seem nuts, but there’s a lot of value in his videos. So let’s jump into his “Perfect Lead-Hand Grip” trick:

-STEP 1: As Speed Golf Rob says, “Clear your mind!” Then grab a garden hose or a reasonably thick rope.
-STEP 2: Place the hose or rope in your land hand with your thumb pointing to the sky.
-STEP 3: Now whip the hose/rope up and down to create waves in the hose/rope. Grip tension should be relatively loose to create the wave effect.

There you have it- the perfect lead-hand grip! Don’t you love how simple golf can be?!!!

Sensei Porcupine Creek
Rancho Mirage, CA

This is a curious one- no one really knows who created this spectacular course near Palm Springs, CA as it was private for many years. Some think it was some combination of Tom Weiskopf and Dave Stockton. But last year, current owner Larry Ellison turned the private estate into a public wellness retreat for the elite. There’s a 2-night minimum and packages start at $1350 per night (golf NOT included 🤯🤯🤯). Between the desert mountain views and palm tree-lined fairways, there might not be a photo you can take on this course that doesn’t look like it came out of a magazine. We’d probably take our life savings over to Pebble, but if we got a free invite, we wouldn’t turn it down.

Rates: $950 per round (must be staying on property, naturally)

Stat of the Day: Driver vs. 3-Wood: Distance + Accuracy by Handicap
presented by…

The Stat: Taking Driver off the tee is 7-13% longer than taking a 3-wood (dependent upon handicap), but the loss of accuracy is < 2% across the board in terms of % of fairways hit.

The Takeaway: We really thought accuracy might dip more as you move from 3-wood to Driver, but across every handicap level, that’s just not the case. You may of course encounter situations where longer isn’t necessarily better, but in general, the Driver is the go-to club off the tee for most players.

The stats might tell one story, but your individual confidence with each club could be entirely different. If you’re like Henrik Stenson and love your 3-wood but dislike the driver, by all means hit your 3-wood!
